Philip V. McHarris is a joint PhD student in Sociology and African American Studies at Yale University, and a current exchange scholar at Princeton University (Spring 2017). His research examines the expansion of policing since 1965 into the present, and the strategies that Black communities employ to resist police violence. He is currently at work on an ethnographic project surrounding policing and surveillance in Camden, New Jersey. Philip received a B.A. in sociology from Boston College.
